Learn

Learn the workflow, at your own pace.

ValoCaptions Learn is a free, practical introduction to reviewing long recordings with multiple speakers. It is useful whether you are new to AI subtitles or already use them every day.

Start with the full conversation.

Long-form subtitle review is more than correcting a line of text. You need to understand who is speaking, what happens when speakers overlap and whether the final subtitles are comfortable to read. The aim is not to remove editorial judgement, but to use it where it has the most value.

01

Use attention points as a starting point

Automatic signals can show where speakers change quickly, overlap or where transcript sources differ. Treat them as a prompt to listen in context, not as an automatic correction.

02

Choose the review route

Review the full recording from beginning to end, start with flagged passages or mark a moment and return later. Choose the route that keeps you clear about the work still to do.

03

Choose the right text layer

Use verbatim when the wording needs to stay close to the conversation. Use Clean Read when the approved text needs a final pass for natural on-screen reading.

Keep terminology consistent.

Set preferred spellings for names, jargon and abbreviations before or during review. A shared glossary gives every reviewer the same reference point without taking away the final decision.

Understand the subtitle choices.

A verbatim transcript records the conversation closely, including natural spoken language. A Clean Verbatim version is tidier while preserving what was said. Clean Read is a separately edited subtitle layer designed for reading speed, timing and flow. Knowing the difference helps you select the right delivery for each project.

Use the detailed guide.

The complete explanation of how transcription sources, speaker signals, review and subtitle output work is available in How it works. More learning materials can be added over time, but the core guidance is available here without an account.

Questions about learning

Is training available?

Yes. Start with the free on-demand video course, or book a personal onboarding workshop in English for up to five participants. A subtitle specialist guides you as you work with your own video material. See pricing.

What are the stages of the workflow?

The workflow starts with a Basic Transcript. Multiple speech-recognition sources and speaker diarisation, which maps who speaks when, give it a broader basis and point out moments that may need attention. You can then turn the checked transcript into timed Verbatim subtitle cues and, if you choose, rewrite those into Clean Read subtitles for a smoother on-screen flow. Finally, download the subtitles and transcript in the format your delivery requires. See the full workflow.

Can I set preferred spellings for names and jargon?

Yes. You can record preferred spellings for names, jargon and abbreviations, giving the review and later text stages a consistent reference point.
